[dropcap style=”font-size:100px;color:#992211;”]C[/dropcap]anadian music festival Metalocalypstick not only celebrates women in metal, but also gives back to the community. Formed in 2016 by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon, the event’s unique characteristic is that each band must have at least one female member.
As a non-profit organisation, Metalocalypstick is dedicated to raising funds and donating 100% of proceeds to local charities including Girls Rock Camp and the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter. On top of these charities, an independent band is selected to be sponsored and given opportunities to further their career in music.
The festival will take place on the weekend of 27 – 28 June 2020 in Lone Butte, British Columbia. Submissions close on 18 November. Apply at http://metalocalypstickfest.rocks
