urt Cobain called The Vaselines’ Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee his favourite songwriters.
However the music of Glaswegian alt-rockers more closely resembles Nirvana’s famous Unplugged session than the grungier sound Nirvana are better known for. The Vaselines are currently touring to promote their latest album V for Vaseline.
They clearly have a dedicated fanbase, which filled a sold out Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. Between the new and old songs in their set there was plenty of banter between the two songwriters, as well as with the audience, that seemed to mostly revolve around blow jobs and meowing. Their current tour continues throughout UK and Europe in November.
